A Detailed Study of the faked B.N.A. Bisects of Raoul Ch. de Thuin and others

R3 Sample 1 R3 Sample 2
R3 Sample 3 R3 Sample 4

Both buyers and sellers of Western Canada postal history are in jeopardy with these dangerous cancellation fakes. They are so good that 749 consecutive lots of these fake cancels were successfully sold to unsuspecting buyers on eBay between April, 2002 and November, 2003 alone. Over $7000 was paid out before the author had the seller cease selling them to eBay bidders and pay back all the buyers who bought them. 44 detection techniques used by the author to identify 820 fake cancellations are illustrated and described in detail. All of the split ring and full circle cancels identified by the author are chronicled in six charts covering Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. This reference is not only essential for collectors of Western Canada cancels, but for postal history collectors the world over whose collecting interests are assuredly affected by computer cancellation fakes.
